 Short Course Details

This two part introductory short course combines on demand video module learning with a 1 day workshop to give you a foundational introduction to Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).  Focusing on relational formulation, the workshop is ideal for therapists and mental health clinicians seeking to understand and use CAT skills in practice. The course includes:

  • Part 1: Access to the "Introduction to CAT" online module with associated reading materials and manual. Participants will learn: the history and theoretical foundations of CAT, the concept of recipricol roles and the 3 phases of CAT.

  • Part 2: 1 Day In-person Group Workshop. Participants will be supported to deepen and apply their learning from Part 1 with experiential and problem based learning activities, as well as seminar style teaching for knowledge integration.

This short course is a great way to get some core skills in an integrated, relational psychotherapeutic approach. It's also a good way to check out the model and experience of learning CAT, with more opportunities for further training available with Mental Health OT, Psychotherapist and CAT Trainer/ Supervisor, Lee Crothers who will be offering more CAT courses at In Dialogue training in 2025.
